What is adjudication?
It is possible to hire an adjudicator to verify your record live and on-the-spot. If you know what record you want to break and you have done it before you might want to go for our Basic Adjudication Service where a trained GWR Adjudicator will show up on the day and verify your record on the spot. If you are a company, you don’t know exactly what record you want to break and need clarification on guidelines our Corporate Adjudication Service can offer you just that.

 

What are the advantages of inviting an official GWR adjudicator to a record attempt?
The record will be instantly verified and officially announced on site. What’s more, the presence of an official GWR adjudicator will also lend authenticity to the record attempt and raise its profile. Best of all, this service provides you with valuable PR opportunities, since the adjudicator can hand successful record-breakers a certificate live and in person if their record-breaking attempt is successful!

 

What is the difference between the Basic Adjudication Service and the Corporate Adjudication Service?

  • If you know what record you are going to attempt, the record does exist and you have done it before you will most probably only need the basic service.
  • If you are a company or need advice in finding the right record for you, support in the preparatory phase and want to create an all-round GWR Experience during your event you will be more interested in our Corporate Adjudication Service.

 

What is included in the Basic Adjudication Service?
The basic service includes the following:

  • Verification of the record on site by a trained GWR Adjudicator
  • Official certificate presentation by GWR Adjudicator
  • Framed certificate for the presentation ceremony, plus up to 5 certificates with final details
  • Adjudication article posted on our website with pictures
  • License of the GWR trademarks and logo for non commercial purposes for up to 4 weeks, the use is detailed in below (Any additional usage of our TM outside the allowance indicated below or after the record attempt should be passed onto the relevant licensing manager:
    • Leaflets Up to 5,000
    • Posters  Up to 1,000
    • Websites Up to 2 for up to 4 weeks before record attempt
    • Banners Up to 10
    • Newspapers/magazines Up to 5
    • T-shirts* Up to 500 (this option also allows organisers to give away some of the t-shirts to record attempt participants)
    • PERIOD OF TIME Up to 4 weeks prior to record attempt
    • 1 Giveaway item as a thank you to record attempt participants i.e. badge, trophy, key rings (this is separate from the thank you letter that the organisers might produce)   Up to 500

 

What is included in the Corporate Adjudication Service?

  • Corporate account; dedicated account manager
  • Concept design: depending on the type of event and profile of the company the Adjudications Team suggests the type of record that is most suitable
  • Research into our database for suitable record titles
  • If the record is non existent the Adjudications Team comes up with a list of new records
  • Record breaking support during the preparatory phases
  • After the customer and GWR agrees on the record title the Adjudications Team writes guidelines and does research into minimum requirements
  • Record breaking support during the preparatory phases
  • Verification of the record on site by a trained GWR representative
  • Speech announcing successful record
  • Framed certificate for the presentation ceremony, plus up to 5 certificates with final details
  • Adjudication article posted on our website with pictures
  • Circulation of the press release issued by the claimant in our media zone

Does inviting an adjudicator come with a cost?
Yes, the adjudication fee depends on the package you go for, location, but it also depends on the number of records, adjudicators and days involved. Travel and accommodation costs will also have to be covered by the organizers of the event.

 

Does Guinness World Records offer support in promoting the attempt?
Guinness World Records PR Service offers publicity support to claimants looking to raise awareness of their record attempt in the UK, Ireland, US and Canada. The service ranges from press release writing to assistance in contacting journalists and managing media on the day of the event.

Does GWR offer PR support if there is no adjudicator on site to verify the record attempt?
No. GWR only offers PR support in conjunction with the Adjudication Service.

 

Does the PR Service come with a cost?
Yes. The fee depends on where you are located and which solution you are interested in.

 

If an adjudicator is present on site, do we still have to submit all evidence listed and detailed in the Record Breakers’ Pack?
In general, no - but there are exceptions when the presence of an adjudicator is not enough to verify the attempt. For marathon records, for example, we will still require a logbook, which will be checked by our adjudicator upon arrival – as our adjudicator will not be able to be present throughout the duration of the attempt.

Will the adjudicator bring his or her own measuring devices?
Yes, but there are exceptions. For example, in the case of weight-related records involving heavy items, the organizers will have to provide appropriate weighing scales.
