Largest cup of soft drink

soft drink

August 20, 2008 – Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. No hazy August afternoon would be complete without a chilled pint of fresh, hand-squeezed lemonade. For Oklahoman restaurant-owner Arthur Greeno, not satisfied with just one cup of the popular beverage, he was determined to sweeten up the United States’ “National Lemonade Day” on 20 August by turning 11,730 lemons into 834 gallons (3,791.4 litres) of world-class refreshment.

Greeno, along with the dedicated help of colleagues and volunteers, mixed 145 gallons of fresh lemon juice - as well as 1,050 mountainous pounds of sugar and 580 icy gallons of water - into the fiberglass replica of his restaurant’s signature “Chick-fil-A” soft drink cup.

After his accomplishment washed away the previous record and splashed into history, the lemonade in Greeno’s soft drink cup was completely drained into individual plastic containers and sold on-site, as well as to area retailers. All proceeds from the lemonade’s sales were directly donated to “Little Light House”, a Tulsa-based developmental center serving young special needs children.
