On 3 June 2008, a 37 km (22.99 mile) long queue of images was unveiled to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest art competition at the historic Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany. Covering 75,000 seats, the images had been submitted by 122,942 primary school children who entered competition with creations depicting scenes of the competition’s topic, “traffic”.

A party to celebrate and view all the artwork created by the children was held on the day of the unveiling, and all children who participated in the competition were invited to join and enjoy the celebrations.

After verification from Guinness World Records adjudicator, Mr. Olaf Kuchenbecker, a certificate for commemorating the new Guinness World Record was presented to Mr. Tiefensee, who – accompanied by renowned children’s character Käpt’n Bläubär (Captain Bluebear) accepted the award on behalf of all the children who participated.
