New official Adjudication in Australia
Sunday 08 June 2008 - Sydney, Australia
New Official adjudication in Australia, to celebrate Costa Cruise’s 60th birthday, the Italian-style cruising company famous for its unique flair and stunning destinations, will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of pizzas.
Sydney’s Norton Street will be transformed into one long table where over 700 pizzas will be lined up measuring 221 m (725 ft 7 in) - the length of the Costa Clasica cruise ship.
To make it happen, twenty-five Sydney chefs will work for a combined total of over 175 hours to produce the pizzas, using more than 500 kg (1,102.3 lb) of flour, 250 litres (54.99 gal) of tomato sauce and 350 kg (771.6 lb) of mozzarella cheese.
Once the Guinness World Records adjudicator verifies the new record has been set, the pizzas will be donated to food rescue charity group OzHarvest to distribute to local charities. Other funds raised on the day, including Costa Cruise’s donation of AUS $10 per metre made, will go towards Variety, the children’s charity.
