Largest Serving of Fried Chicken - Doha, Qatar

Largest Serving of Fried Chicken

The Qatar Food Company (Americana Group), franchise owner of KFC, set a brand new record for the ‘Largest Serving of Fried Chicken’ in Doha on 3 February 2008, with 300 kg (661 lb 6 oz) of chicken. The event was marketed in the local press and around the shopping mall where the record took place and drew a huge crowd.

Weighing 36 kg (79 lb 4 oz) and measuring 110 cm (43.3 in) in height - 117 cm (46 in) in width at the top and 87 cm (34.25 in) at the bottom, a giant KFC bucket was placed on digital scale that was set up on a stage.

A team of about 20 took no longer than an hour to fill the bucket with 300 kg (661 lb 6 oz) of chicken. The total weight stood at 336 kg (740 lb 12 oz) including the 36 kg (79 lb 5 oz) weight of the bucket. The chicken was prepared at six different locations and was transported to the venue.
"We wanted Doha to be in the record books and what better way to offer customers an abundant supply of the product they love, while setting a record on at the same time" said Sherif al-Ashry, the official of Qatar Food Company.

Following the record, everyone at the event was treated to a large portion of chicken and 300 copies of the Arabic-version of the Guinness World Records Book 2008 were distributed free.
